My wife and I tried to visit Ft. Defiance in October, 2014, but it was closed and appeared to have been closed for quite a while. Overgrown and dirty, in disrepair, a big disappointment. The parking area was open and you could walk around and go to the top of the observation area. Since I do not live there, I do not know anything about it, but if you have questions, you might try the city recreation department of Cairo, IL.
