Nearby Grand Marais has the Great Lakes Shipwreck museum which was fabtastic. Tahquamenon Falls is near there as well and also worth the visit! We went to Mackinac Island but stayed in St Ignace whivh was much less crowded than Mackinaw City! We also went on lighthouse tours along the Western Michigan coast up onto Lake Superior and then over to Lake Huron. We managed to see over 30 lighthouses in a week and a half.
