ELLIS COUNTY – An innocent victim died and two people were hospitalized Thursday after Dallas police were involved in a shooting following a chase and two-vehicle crash on I-35E in Ellis County, authorities said. It happened Thursday morning on I-35E southbound at Red Oak Road, in northern Ellis County.

The deadly incident occurred in Texas on Thursday at around 10.30 a.m. after the suspect, name as Gabriel Cerna, collided with another vehicle on the interstate

Dallas police confirmed officials are investigating an officer-involved shooting in the area on I-35 in Red Oak.

Officer Gabriel Bixby, 29, was off duty and traveling on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when the crash occurred about 5:20 p.m. on State Highway 276, about a mile and a half from Union Valley and close to Royse City, a small city about 30 miles east of Dallas, law enforcement officials said.
