An executive order underscored the extent to which the president, who faced four indictments after he left office, aims to exact a price from anyone associated with past investigations of him.

President Donald Trump expanded his attacks on major U.S. law firms on Tuesday as he signed an executive order targeting Jenner & Block, which represents clients challenging some of his major policies and formerly employed a prosecutor involved in a special counsel investigation of his 2016 campaign.

The president cited the firm’s ties to Andrew Weissmann, who previously was a top member of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
