President Donald Trump's administration has rolled back environmental protections around future logging projects on more than half of U.S. national forests under an emergency designation issued Friday that cites the dangers of wildfires.

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins issued a new memo on Monday, aimed at reversing “heavy-handed federal policies and [increasing] domestic timber production to protect our national and economic security.

The Trump administration declared a state of emergency in timber supply and national forest health across the United States and the West.
