You would think Miami (OH) would be ranked higher as the only undefeated team in college basketball. Advanced rankings prove the RedHawks are exactly where they need to be.

Maintaining the undefeated record through the rest of the regular season is attainable. The RedHawks won't play Akron or Kent State, who sit second and third in the conference, again until the MAC tournament if at all.

The 24-0 Miami University RedHawks are ranked No. 23 in the latest AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll released Feb. 9. The RedHawks also were ranked 23rd last week. The RedHawks received 195 votes in the new poll. MU defeated Marshall, 90-74, on Feb. 8.

Despite the best start in program history, Miami might have to win the MAC tournament and secure the automatic berth to make the NCAAs.

The Hurricanes' next test will be on the road against Boston College (9-13, 2-7 ACC), bolstering an 8-4 home record.

The top-ranked Arizona Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season Feb. 9 at Kansas, leaving the No. 23 Miami University RedHawks as the only undefeated team in Div. I men's college basketball. The Wildcats led by three at halftime in Lawrence, but the No. 9 Jayhawks rallied past the No. 1 team for an 82-78 win.
