Penn State volleyball's remarkable NCAA turnaround in December helped recalibrate a slumping Nittany Lions hockey team and fuel their run to the Frozen Four.

An overtime goal by sophomore forward Matt DiMarsico propelled Penn State past UConn, 3-2, and into the Frozen Four for the first time in program history — and it’s much more than 13 seasons if you include the years of club-level success and support that set the foundation for the varsity program.

The two teams went into the second intermission knotted at 2-2, and the third period saw a stalemate once again to send the game into overtime. UConn took some of the momentum with aggressive play and outshot the Nittany Lions in the third period.
