COLUMBUS, Ohio — Coach Ryan Day was asked Tuesday if there was a frontrunner in Ohio State football’s quarterback battle between Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz. After a brief pause, he delivered a succinct answer. Getting an inkling of who will be QB1 when Ohio State hosts Texas on Aug. 30 is difficult.

The Ohio State football program is at the top of college football right now. The team won the College Football Playoff national championship last season, and just finished off a historic NFL draft where the program saw 14 players selected in the seven-round event last weekend.

Head coach Ryan Day and the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes face a major question at quarterback entering the 2025 season. Former Kansas State transfer Will Howard, who helped lead the Buckeyes to the promised land in 2024, is off to the NFL.
