A solo-vehicle crash in San Jose left one person dead on Monday, police said. The crash happened near Berryessa Road and Morrill Avenue.

After the crash, the driver took off, but officers stopped him in the area. The driver, identified as Luis Cruz Martinez, was arrested on suspicion of a hit and run and driving under the influence, then booked into Santa Clara County Jail, police said. It was unclear whether alcohol or drugs, or both, were factors in the crash.
