Bruins score 4 unanswered goals to surge past Mammoth
Morgan Geekie clinched his fifth multi-goal game of the season before the Boston Bruins separated with a pair of third-period goals on the way to a 4-1 win over the visiting Utah Mammoth on Tuesday night.
Coming off a 5–4 overtime win against the Penguins, the Mammoth traveled to Boston hoping to defeat the Bruins without needing to rally from a three-goal deficit. While a first-period goal put Utah up 1–0 — an encouraging start compared to its game against Pittsburgh — Boston slowly gained control of the game en route to a 4–1 win.
Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman wasn't tasked with the biggest workload of his life Tuesday night at TD Garden. In fact, his 20 saves were the fewest he's needed in a winning effort this season, beating his Oct. 11 win over the Sabres by one save. But when the Bruins needed a key stop, their No. 1 ace in goal was there.
“Fun” was not a word the Bruins got to use much last season, when the season started poorly and really never got better. It’s a word they’re using now, though. It’s one of the reasons Charlie McAvoy wanted to get back from his broken jaw as soon as possible.
Quinn Hughes scored in his Minnesota debut and the Wild beat the Boston Bruins 6-2 for their fourth straight win.

The Bruins made several pregame gestures to remember and honor the shooting victims in Rhode Island and Bondi Beach.
The Boston Bruins held a moment of silence Tuesday night to honor the lives lost over the weekend in two shootings, one at Brown University in Rhode Island and one at Bondi Beach.
Captain Jared Spurgeon (power play), Kirill Kaprizov (team-leading 19th and 20th), Ryan Hartman (second in as many games) and Matt Boldy (18th) supplied the other goals, but it was Faber who appeared to benefit most from Hughes’ arrival.
St. PAUL, Minn. -- Quinn Hughes scored in his debut with the Minnesota Wild, a 6-2 win against the Boston Bruins at Grand Casino Arena on Sunday. Hughes made it 4-0 at :54 of the third period with wrist shot down the middle that beat Jeremy Swayman five-hole.
