The president has been a regular golfer throughout his political career, previously only taking breaks from the sport during political campaigns, such as last year's election.

Bowing out of club competition could potentially save the taxpayers millions across the rest of Trump’s term provided that means he makes less trips to Florida to hit the links. It is also entirely possible that Trump could continue to golf at that rate he has without competing in the club competition.
