The Islamic calendar, also called the Hijiri calendar, is a dating system used by Muslims for religious purposes. It’s a lunar calendar consisting of 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days.

The Umm al-Qura Calendar, used in Saudi Arabia, has been reformed several times. The current scheme was introduced in March 2002, the Islamic year 1423 AH.

As the Islamic calendar is based on the lunar calendar, Dhul Hijjah is anticipated to begin the night of June 6, 2024, with the sighting of the crescent moon. It will last from 29 to 30 days.
