Silka Luisa talked about Prime Video's upcoming sci-fi thriller based on 'Blade Runner' and 'Blade Runner 2049.'

Like Blade Runner before it, 2099 takes place in a dystopian version of Los Angeles, but don’t expect a return to Scott’s dark and rainy neon cityscape. Instead, Luisa describes the visual style as “sunshine noir,” which she says reflects the themes of the show.

The new Prime Video takes place 50 years after Blade Runner 2049 where a war has happened "and the humans have lost". The official synopsis reads, "Our worst fears imagined. The replicants are now the power brokers of the city. And humans are the second-class citizens."

Several years in the making, Blade Runner 2099 will debut on Nov. 25 on Prime Video. The eight-episode limited series is a sequel to the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049 and stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, along with Sheila Atim, Katelyn Rose Downey, Dimitri Abold and Daniel Rigby among the cast.

Blade Runner has become one of the most ambitious sci-fi franchises over the years, largely thanks to the work of directors Ridley Scott and Denis Villeneuve, and now the franchise is now set to expand into television for its first live-action series.
