On Friday, the Orioles welcomed Pete Alonso to Baltimore with 19 combined billboards and media walls placed around the city and county.
In one of the biggest moves of the MLB offseason, five-time All-Star first baseman Pete Alonso signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles. Alonso had spent his entire seven-year career with the New York Mets before signing his new deal.
Showalter managed Alonso with the Mets in 2022 and ‘23 and spent nine years in Baltimore from 2010-18 and is confident the different atmosphere will suit Alonso.
The Orioles needed right-handed power and get it with Alonso. Mets fans will miss the star slugger but the team has avenues to replace him.
