The guy behind Barbarian and Weapons is back with a new spin on an old franchise: Resident Evil, which is getting yet another reboot movie, opening in theaters this weekend.

“Resident Evil,” the first new film in the franchise adapted from the beloved video game series since 2021, opened in theaters over the weekend to the tune of$60 million at the domestic box office.

The 24-year-old franchisebased on the zombie video game -- this, its eight edition -- overdelivered on its $40 million to $50 million projections.
