Bo Nix spoke in disagreement related to Sean Payton's injury comments

Denver Broncos owner Greg Penner expressed confidence in general manager George Paton and head coach Sean Payton after a strong season.

Sean Payton and Bo Nix may have gotten their wires crossed on the quarterback's season-ending ankle injury. However, Denver Broncos fans can safely stop short of declaring that the disconnect represents a wedge between head coach and quarterback, but it was a curious development this week.

Payton was proactive in firing offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, and one of his initial replacement targets was Joe Brady, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Brady was just named the Buffalo Bills ' new head coach on Tuesday, and Payton brought it up unprompted during his end-of-season press conference.

In his season-ending press conference, coach Sean Payton was asked about the possibility of offensive pass game coordinator and quarterbacks coach Davis Webb staying in the division as the next head coach of the Raiders. “ It’d be a pain in the ass for him ,” Payton said, via Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette.
