Four athletes will be representing Team Ireland at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Anabelle Zurbay, Cormac Comerford, and Ben Lynch are making their first Olympic appearance, while Thomas Maloney Westgård is becoming Ireland’s second-ever three-time Winter Olympian at this year's games in Italy.

The Winter Olympics are just over a week away now, and Team Ireland has announced their four athletes to compete at the events in Milano-Cortina, Italy. There’s a mixture of young and old, with three of the four competing in their first-ever Winter Games.

Thomas Maloney Westgård marked his third Winter Olympics appearance on Sunday with his best result in the cross-country skiathlon at Milano Cortina, finishing 35th over the 20km race which combines the classic and freestyle techniques.

Figure skater Ilia Malinin leads after short program; U.S. claims silver in curling mixed doubles while Norway wins 3 gold medals

The flip doesn’t add to his technical score, but it sure does rally the crowd. Malinin earned a 108.16 on the night to lead the field heading into Friday’s medal round. Yuma Kagiyama, who bested Malinin in the team short program skate, ended the day second with 103.07, and France’s Adam Siao Him Fa currently ranks third with a score of 102.55.
