President Donald Trump is leveraging a 145% tariff rate, higher than previously thought, on Chinese goods, according to White House officials. Trump made headlines and shifted financial markets Thursday by announcing a 90-day pause on his reciprocal tariff agenda for all U.

White House officials clarified on Thursday that the 125 percent tariff the president announced on Wednesday was in addition to a 20 percent added to the country since President Trump returned to office.

China now faces up to 245% tariffs on imports to the US as a result of its retaliatory tariffs, as per a White House Fact sheet. This comes after China ordered its airlines not to take any further deliveries of Boeing jets in response to the earlier US decision to impose 145% tariffs on Chinese goods.
