College football updated its roster standards ahead of the season, changing from 85 scholarship players to 105 total players. The Seminoles were slightly above that limit this fall due to players who were grandfathered into the new ruling.

The Wildcats are expected to be in the mix for the productive Seminoles defensive back with two years of eligibility remaining.

On Wednesday, Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett reported that Florida State safety Edwin Joseph Jr. will be entering the transfer portal. It doesn’t officially open until Jan. 2, but players can still reveal their intent to leave. “BREAKING: Florida State starting DB Edwin Joseph Jr. plans to enter the @TransferPortal, he tells @On3Sports,” Fawcett wrote.

The 2026 NCAA Transfer Portal opens next month on January 2, marking a new single two-week window for players to seek out a better fit or opportunities ahead of next season. Florida State is coming off a 5-7 season and did not compete in a bowl game for the second year in a row.

Florida State football general manager Darrick Yray is set to leave the program and take a similar role with UCLA.
