A JetBlue pilot reported narrowly avoiding a midair collision with a U.S. Air Force refueling tanker over the Caribbean after the military aircraft flew without its transponder on, making it invisible to radar.

A JetBlue passenger jet narrowly avoided a mid air collision with a US Air Force refuelling tanker near the Venezuelan coast.

'We almost had a midair collision up here,' the JetBlue pilot said, according to a recording of his conversation with air traffic control.
