Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old democratic socialist, has clinched the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City, besting a crowded field that included former governor Andrew M. Cuomo.

Mamdani polls high among younger New Yorkers, and Lander comes into the arena with a strong Brooklyn base. But noticeably absent from the alliance is City Council Speaker and candidate Adrienne Adams.
