Dr. Iain Hunter in the BYU Exercise Science Department has been working with the USA Track and Field team since 1997, starting with steeplechase and adding the marathon more recently.
BYU exercise science professor Iain Hunter is researching the biomechanics behind carbon fiber-plated running shoes to see how they can help long-distance runners increase their speed.
The first U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials for men was held in 1968, for women in 1984. That means there have been a total of 22 Trials races leading up to Atlanta on Feb. 29.
