A peaceful protest by hundreds of people in downtown Las Vegas on Wednesday evening calling for an end to immigration enforcement raids escalated into confrontations with law enforcement.

SAN FRANCISCO (TNND) — A federal judge will hold a hearing on Thursday over California's request to block the Trump administration from using the National Guard and Marines to help put an end to protests that were sparked by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids.

The city acknowledged that the change could make it more difficult for some families to visit detained loved ones.

With migrant communities already living in fear amid the Trump administration's immigration crackdown, ICE raids in downtown Los Angeles sparked days of protests.
