Trade Deadline winds are blowing stronger with moves starting to happen around Major League Baseball the past couple of days. For the Reds, the time is ripe for catching a breeze to both stay in the postseason hunt and position themselves for dealing before Thursday.
Here is what an MLB insider pitches in a trade that has Eugenio Suarez ending back up with his former team in the Reds.
The Reds activated relief pitcher Scott Barlow from the paternity list on Saturday and sent rookie right-hander Luis Mey back down to Triple-A Louisville. Barlow, who went on the paternity list on Friday, missed just one game.
The Cincinnati Reds were right to be concerned about Carson Spiers, who is likely heading for surgery and will miss the rest of this season, and more.
"You've just got to find some momentum," Rays center fielder Chandler Simpson said. "Really just banding together. Leaning on each other. Passing the baton. Just knowing that if one guy doesn't do it, the next guy will pick him up." Injuries have started to take a bite out of Tampa Bay's lineup.
"They could offer Arizona two of the following three pitching prospects - lefty Adam Serwinowski, righty Ty Floyd, righty Luke Holman, or one of those pitcher along with middle infielder Peyton Stovall or infielder/outfielder Tyler Callihan who is currently on the injured list," Bowden wrote.
