Tottenham thought they were about to snap up Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest after activating his £60m release clause, but his club have pulled the breaks after complaining of an illegal app

Spurs are said to remain confident about their chances of signing Gibbs-White, who reported to Forest for pre-season training on Monday, but McInerney has suggested that Man City may consider reigniting their interest in the England international.

Rotation is going to be required over the course of the season with Tottenham competing on four fronts, meaning Gibbs-White will be rested from time to time. As was the case in the Europa League last term, Spurs will have eight games in the league phase of the competition before the knockout round commences in early 2026.
