A partisan fight over whether Washington's flag truly represents the state in the best way it could is brewing in Olympia, raising the idea of a redesign.

According to State House records, there have been at least eight attempts to revise the New Hampshire state flag since 1989, as well as a proposed study committee in 2018 to look at ways to modify the flag to include the state motto and an image of the Old Man in the Mountain. All failed.

House Bill 1938, if approved, would establish a committee to oversee the process of designing and adopting a new state flag.
