According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, which began publishing full moon names in the 1930s, some Native American tribes referred to June's full moon as the "strawberry moon" to mark the short but sweet strawberry harvest season.

You won't want to miss June's ultra-rare full moon. A full strawberry moon will shine bright June 10 and continue into the morning of June 11, according to AccuWeather. Then, the full moon could appear to have a golden or amber hue as it illuminates the night sky.

Peak illumination of the Strawberry Moon will arrive in Washington at 3:43 a.m. Eastern time on Wednesday. But it will be close enough to full on Tuesday evening that you won’t be able to tell the difference if observing with the naked eye.
