Temperatures will slowly rise toward climate-normal levels this week. But another strong arctic cold front will blast through on Saturday.

Thousands of runners and walkers take to the streets of Houston this Sunday. Temperatures at the starting line will be in the mid-30s but it will feel like the upper-20s with the wind chill. Temperatures will warm to the lower-40s through the morning under sunny skies. It was actually colder last year.

Houston-area officials are urging caution among residents as the second arctic front of 2025 is set to bring a hard freeze and chances of wintery precipitation across the region starting on Jan. 20.

The Houston area is seeing an increasing chance that a mix of wintry precipitation—including snow—is headed in its direction. Space City Weather meteorologist Eric Berger said there is a growing possibility (about a 50-50 chance) of snow or sleet beginning next Monday night and Tuesday.

Long-range models indicate the chance of another arctic blast early next week, which could bring the coldest air so far this season.
