Tim Herlihy, the screenwriter who penned the scripts for both Happy Gilmore and Happy Gilmore 2 with Adam Sandler, gave an update on the prospects of part 3 and Sandler’s return in a future project. Happy Gilmore premiered in US theaters in 1996 and was a considerable success,

“Happy Gilmore,” released in 1996, was Sander and Herlihy’s second movie, following “Billy Madison.” Sandler was just exiting “Saturday Night Live.” Herlihy was Sandler’s roommate at New York University and became a lawyer before Sandler got him to stick to writing comedy.
