Sep 24, 2020 · Many nations have statutes that their flag may not be used for ill or mockery of their country - the United States included. Most just don't enforce it. The United Nations does. The Expanse gets away with it because they add a bunch of stuff to it, but Stellaris can't do that while maintaining simplicity to match with the other emblems.

It's good design by itself, but it does not fit to be a flag for the Earth for 2 major reasons. 1. We don't need an earth flag at the moment - the closest thing we have is the UN. And 2, it doesn't suggest that by anything that this is Earth, the earth is not just water, I see just water ripples. And let's give another major reason.

The real super earth flag (the one in the game) is similar but not the same. A lot of fan arts just use the UN flag as a basis because they are similar, but the deception of earth on the super earth flag is rotated slightly and zoomed in to display only the northern hemisphere
