This is a Bryde's whale. And it's got a mighty large noggin. In fact, its head makes up about a quarter of its entire body length (talk about getting ahead in life). And you know what they say about whales with big heads? That's right, they also have big jaws. Bryde’s (pronounced 'broodus') whales have a number of throat grooves that expand while feeding as well as 250 to 410 coarse baleen plates on each side of their mouths that act like strainers while they feed. This means they can gobble up
