Let’s talk oil versus butter in cakes ❤️ This is my Moist Chocolate Cake recipe which uses oil. It makes for a super moist and tender cake that gets better and better even days after it’s baked. Why? Oil. Oil is pure fat so it adds so much moisture to cakes. It does not solidify at room temperature so you’ll notice the crumb doesn’t tighten or dry out over time. So if that’s the case, why would you ever use butter in a cake?! Well butter can do something oil can’t. Butter adds flavour - So. Much

Mona Madeit on Instagram: "How to make boxed cake mix better: - use whole milk, sour milk, or buttermilk instead of water - melted butter instead of oil - 4 eggs instead of 3 - a dollop of mayonnaise or apple sauce if you don’t want the extra egg - a pinch of salt - a dash of vanilla bean paste #bakingtips #boxedcakesbutbetter #bakewithme"

Boxed cake mix can be made into something amazing with just a few additional ingredients. Use melted butter instead of oil and milk or half and half instead of water. Add a teaspoon of vanilla and almond for bakery style flavor and homemade buttercream to finish it off. I made a filling with a container of sour cream, a cup of sugar and flaked coconut. It’s the best! #caketips #cake #coconut | Cookies in a bag by Danette
